Redact a moving region with tracking on iPhone
A moving subject can leave a fixed mask. The 1.1.0 tracking tools let a selected region follow motion in a short video or GIF. Tracking needs visual review; it does not guarantee that sensitive details are hidden in every frame.
Available now: 1.0 · Image, GIF and tracking tools are planned for 1.1.0.
Quick start
- Import a video or GIF and choose the relevant time range. For video, open Picture > Redact.
- Choose a clear source frame and add a mask around the target. Select pixelation, blur or solid cover; use enough coverage around the edges.
- Run Track selected range. Tracking runs on the device and can search both forward and backward from your anchors.
- Scrub through the result. At drift, cuts or occlusions, move the region and use Correct selected region to add an anchor, then track again. Unresolved export frames must be corrected.
- In the shared Export panel, choose Video to keep the audio and masks, or GIF, Image or PNG frames ZIP. Inspect the saved file.
What are the tracking limits?
Tracking supports up to 30 source seconds, 900 animation frames and eight tracked regions. Output limits can be lower; the app checks the final export plan.
Does blur guarantee anonymity?
No. Coverage and tracking must be reviewed. Stronger solid cover may be appropriate for unreadable details, but other visible or audible context can still reveal information.
Are manual corrections kept?
Manual anchors remain when you retrack. Reopening the linked video preserves its annotations and source link in the saved draft.
