Your moments stay under your control
ForeTake is provided by Wei Sun. Capture, editing, original-photo recovery and trail processing take place on your device. The app has no account system, advertising, cross-app tracking or third-party analytics. We do not receive your recordings, photo library, location history or motion samples through the app.
Camera, microphone and motion
Camera access is used for videos and photos. Microphone access is used only when sound recording is enabled. Optional visual-inertial tracking uses the camera and motion sensors to estimate camera positions. Basic motion trails use device motion, acceleration and available magnetic-field information. These records stay with your local media and may be included in recovery videos.
Location and directions
Location and basic motion trails are enabled in the initial settings, with clear choices during onboarding and in Settings. System permission is required for location. Precise and approximate choices are respected; declining location does not prevent capture. Standard capture samples location and motion only while recording in the foreground. Optional visual tracking can also run while previewing and pauses when leaving an inactive camera or entering the background. Turning a setting off affects future capture, not information already saved.
Photos and imports
The system picker shares only the photos and videos you choose. Saving requests add-only Photos permission where sufficient. Checking linked items, verifying originals or releasing local media can request read access. With limited access, unseen items remain unconfirmed. Automatic Photos saving is initially on and can be disabled. Original photos are included inside completed recovery videos by default; separate photo entries are optional.
Sharing, iCloud and maps
Shared originals and recovery videos can contain photos, capture times, locations, directions and motion trails. Review the content before sharing; disabling photo embedding excludes original photo attachments from subsequent exports but does not remove all metadata. Photos, iCloud Photos, system backups and sharing destinations follow your Apple and service settings. Opening a map requests the viewed area from Apple Maps, subject to Apple’s service and privacy terms. ForeTake does not send your original media or full trails to the developer.
Retention and deletion
Media and exports remain in the app’s Documents storage until removed by you or the operating system. Uninstalling the app removes its local container; Photos, shared files and backups are separate copies. Export important material first. Delete a project and its corresponding exported, Photos and backup copies to remove stored metadata everywhere you control. The app offers local-media release only after checking the saved original; edited or transcoded videos may no longer contain recoverable attachments.
Support and website
If you contact [email protected], we receive the information you choose to include and use it to answer your request. Do not send private media or precise location unless needed for the issue. This website has no advertising, analytics scripts or contact form; its hosting service may process ordinary connection logs to deliver and protect the site. The app itself does not upload diagnostic logs to us.

Change camera, microphone, motion, location and Photos permissions in system Settings. Use ForeTake Settings to control recording, photo embedding, saving and trails.
