Measurement and use limitations

Know what the result means before relying on it.

Apple’s Standard Licensed Application EULA applies. These product-specific notes explain the scientific and media-use boundary; they are not a claim of certification.

Relative by default

Uncalibrated levels are dBFS relative to digital full scale. A visual display offset cannot convert dBFS into physical sound pressure.

Calibration is evidence-gated

Derived dB SPL appears only while user-provided reference evidence matches the actual input route, sample format, channel policy, and validity period. Mismatch or expiration falls back to dBFS.

Not a certified instrument

AcoustoViz is not an IEC 61672 Class 1/2 certified meter, legal metrology, a medical device, hearing-protection advice, or an occupational, environmental, safety, or regulatory determination.

Accuracy depends on the chain

Results depend on device hardware, microphone/interface, acoustic field, reference source, environment, settings, and user procedure. Use qualified equipment and expertise when consequences matter.

Media, consent, and sharing

You are responsible for permission to record, import, analyze, export, and share media and for applicable copyright, privacy, consent, workplace, and local recording laws. AcoustoViz never chooses a recipient. A third-party destination’s terms apply after you select it.

Safety

Do not rely on AcoustoViz alone for hazardous-environment, legal, medical, hearing-conservation, or compliance decisions. Preserve original media and calibration evidence when traceability matters.
